Monday Blues

It’s cold, it’s lazy, it’s the worst part of the week- so you may think!

Although Monday’s are a tough wakeup call compared to the relaxing weekend, they are the best day to start fresh. Who even needs a New Year’s Resolution anymore? The beginning of a fresh start can happen once a week. So, forget what happened last week, and remember to throw on our favorite outfit and get the day going. With a mindset like this, we can all start off in high confidence.

Have you ever heard of “dress better, work better”? Well, it’s true. From experience, I’ve gotten to realize what the power an outfit can do. With a nice, put together outfit, you have more confidence which could better your workload.

According to the Wall Street Journal article “Why Dressing for Success Leads to Success” written by Ray A. Smith, clothes really do increase performance.

“Michael W. Kraus, an assistant professor of organizational behavior at the Yale School of Management, co-wrote a study for the Journal of Experimental Psychology in 2014 which showed that clothes with high social status can increase dominance and job performance in “high-stakes” competitive tasks.” (Smith, 2016).

It may seem tempting to throw on sweatpants and a plain tee, but don’t! Save that outfit for your next sleepover. Mondays are a time to dominate the week. Start your day off with your favorite outfit, favorite jewelry, and strong lipstick  and I guarantee that your week will start off just as great as you.
